Love is Trustworthy

Part 2 of 4

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways, know, recognize and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

.... God is worthy of our trust because of the great love He has for us. If, as a child, you trusted your earthly parents to take care of you because you knew they loved you, how much more should you trust your Heavenly Father? Jesus said, in Mark 10:14-15, “Allow the children to come to Me--do not forbid or prevent or hinder them--for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I tell you, whoever does not receive and accept and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child [does] positively shall not enter it at all.” In order for us to fully enter into the kingdom of God, we must have a childlike trust. Because God is love, because He does not lie, He is completely worthy of our trust. Human beings sometimes betray our trust but God doesn’t. He does what He says He’s going to do. All He asks is that you trust Him.

.... Deuteronomy 33:27 says, “The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” We are to trust God in the same way that a small child who jumps into a pool knows (believes and expects) her daddy will catch her. But how do we do this, especially if we’re distrustful because of past experiences?

.... The Word of God is full of the promises we have in Jesus, but we must renew our minds to them so we can take God’s Word at face value.

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), …but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by it’s new ideals and attitudes], so that you may prove for yourselves what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God…[in His sight for you].
Romans 12:2

....
As you learn more about Jesus, you’ll be able to trust Him more because you will better understand His heart toward you. The world may tell you not to trust anyone, but your Heavenly Father says, “Trust Me.” The world may tell you not to love anymore because it hurts too much, but Jesus says, “Abide in My love.” His Words hidden in your heart and renewed in your mind will change you so that you can truly trust Him.

First Corinthians 2:16 says: “We have the mind of Christ and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart” As a believer in Jesus, you do have the mind of Christ; and Jesus was not only the most trustworthy person to ever walk on this planet, but also the most trusting. On the cross, He trusted His Heavenly Father enough to put His life in His Heavenly Father’s hands. All God is asking us to do is to trust Him (by putting our hearts and lives in His hands just as Jesus did), and to trust Jesus. If we do that, if we don’t trust in our own understanding, but lean on Him, He promises to direct our paths and show us the way we should go.

.... Your Heavenly Father’s hands are outstretched toward you. Be like that little child. Take a leap of faith!

Food for Thought

.... According to Philippians 3:5-6 we are told not to rely on our own insight and understanding in order to trust God. What or whom should we rely on and why?

  • I am a Blue Star Mother in one of 16 chapters in Oklahoma....one of the things I have been known to tell the officers for the last two years has been "Trust God....we are doing what is right & as long as we are doing what is right He is going to take care of what we need" So far we have seriously not wanted for anything! When our funds or items run low, in the door comes what we need!
Same with my home life...it has just been a struggle since my health has stopped me from employment...we were a 2 income family for 20+ years....then suddenly that ended...but we were taught it can be done We had to trust in God ......He has taken care of what we needed & I trust that to continue.

A friend led me to this site....She has been a great friend...though we are not close, she is still my sister in Christ! It will be in my favorites & I will pass it on to mom & others!

  • Dear babluestarmom:

Thanks for the comment. "'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus." And you're so right, the Lord does provide everything we need as we trust Him. I'm like you, I have been home with my girls since they were babies (which I wouldn't trade for the world) and God has provided for our family every step of the way and we really haven't lacked anything. And as I learn to trust Him more, His provision is more abundant. So my prayer is "grace to trust Him more!
